"Pros 2" — Synopsis

Its main story takes place at the re-inauguration of a bar where professional soccer players hang out. The owner of the bar has got himself a partner, Marquinhos, who helped Brazil win their fifth World Cup title and who now plays for a major European soccer club.

The film depicts the day the famous player visits his new “investment”, and it reports on the transformations which soccer itself and its protagonists have undergone in recent years. In the final analysis, it reports on the transformations that society itself has undergone, a change which is represented by soccer to perfection.

It’s a display of rich players, businessmen, managers, lawyers, journalists in search of any possible pieces of news, women whose main interest in life is to be with a famous soccer player, and, finally, supporters of all political hues and social classes.

The story takes place at the old bar, which has been awfully redecorated by the new owners. The “boleiros”, however, still hang out at the same corner they used to, talking about soccer, telling stories and reporting on their experiences. When focusing on them, the film acquires a different tone, becoming human, poetic, and speaking about conducts which do not overrate money. This part of the film revisits the values and behaviors of a society that has practically ceased to exist.

“Boleiros 2” is a fractionated film, practically in episodes. It’s composed of many stories crammed full of comedy, drama and creativity. Just like soccer...
